Joanna Breitstein is executive editor at Pharmaceutical Executive magazine, and has been with the publication since November 2000. During that time, she's interviewed countless CEOs and other pharma executives for cover stories and feature articles on all aspects of the development and commercialization of pharmaceuticals. In 2004, Joanna won a fellowship from the Kaiser Family Foundation to travel to Africa and report on AIDS drug distribution under President Bush's PEPFAR grant, resulting in a two-part series on the topic. Joanna also won a Neal Award, for excellence in business journalism, in 2002 for her cover story focusing on the coverage of diagnostics and pharmaceuticals, and a Grand Neal Award in 2001, for a cover story on patient advocacy in oncology. Before joining Pharmaceutical Executive, Joanna deepened her knowledge of the pharma industry and several treatment categories within the health and medical group at Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide. She is also president of the international HUG Foundation, a 501c3 organization whose mission is to help needy orphans in Uganda.
