Diana DeGette, Democrat Representative and adviser to President Obama on healthcare reform, has been confirmed as the keynote speaker at the fifth annual Swedish-American Life Science Summit (SALSS), which opens in Stockholm on 20 August. SALSS, is promoted as a vital showcase for the Swedish life sciences and the bringing together of the US and Swedish life science communities. DeGette, who will help to open the event, was a co-sponsor of the US Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act in 2007.
Ahead of the event, SALSS founder and chairperson Barbro Ehnbom has pointed out that although the US continues to be at the centre of the life sciences economy, many of the previous tenets we took for granted have changed. A full programme of the event is available at
